India’s billion-dollar chip dream: 3 stocks betting it all on ‘Make in India’
Semiconductors are the foundation of today’s digital economy. They’re tiny chips that power everything from your smartphone and automobile to defence and medical devices. However, India currently imports nearly 90% of its domestic needs. This dependence on imports makes India vulnerable to supply chain risks, as seen in the post-pandemic period. To boost semiconductor manufacturing, the Indian government launched the India Semiconductor Mission with an outlay of ₹760 billion.
From Alto to Range Rover: GST 2.0 makes cars cheaper in India – Full list of savings on Kia, Tata, Maruti & more
In a major boost for car buyers, India’s leading automakers have announced substantial price cuts across their vehicle lineups, following the government’s implementation of GST 2.0. The move, effective immediately, lowers the GST rate on small cars from 28 per cent to 18 per cent, resulting in significant savings for consumers and making car ownership more affordable across the country. Industry experts suggest that these reductions, timed ahead of the festive season, could drive higher sales volumes while enhancing competition in the passenger vehicle segment.

Draft rules to be notified making dealer liable once vehicle is sold

On December 13, 2001, a white Ambassador with a fake ministry sticker rolled into Parliament, carrying five armed men who launched a deadly terror attack. Investigations later revealed the car had changed hands several times, but the regional transport office (RTO) records still listed it under a prominent leasing and financial services firm. The paperwork had never caught up with reality.

The festive season is right around the corner, and with it comes the busiest period of the year for new car buyers. This is when OEMs such as Honda, Kia, and Volkswagen roll out some of their biggest discounts, making it the perfect time to bring home a new SUV. This year’s celebrations may get extra special, with the GST 2.0 reforms due to make several popular models such as the Honda Elevate, MG Hector, and Kia Seltos more affordable than before.
Citroen Aircross X may follow Basalt X, teased ahead of imminent launch. What's on offer?
Citroen India has released a new teaser for the Citroen Aircross X, which is slated for the festive season launch. The teaser hints that the upcoming model will follow the Citroen Basalt X in terms of some interior detailing and features. With pre-bookings already open for the SUV, the French automaker is expecting to fetch a sales spike during this festive season, buoyed by the introduction of the Basalt X and Aircross X.
Suzuki’s new Victoris is more than a grand Vitara in disguise, but can it take on the Hyundai Creta?

Jaipur: For Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest carmaker, the SUV segment has been a bit of a hit and a miss. While it leads in the entry-level SUV category with its Brezza and Fronx models, the mid segment is where the company has uncharacteristically struggled to dominate in the face of a really formidable competitor – the Hyundai Creta. The Japanese carmaker’s ambition to become the market leader in the mid-SUV segment, one of the fastest-growing and crowded vehicle categories of the Indian car market, is somewhat reflected in the badging of its new product – the Victoris.

Studds Trooper D4 helmet review: Safety & comfort at a budget
I don’t often get a chance to review helmets (even though I should considering the profession I am in) mostly because of commitments involved around my daily routine. Studds Accessories reached out to me and offered a helmet of my choice to review it. For the uninitiated, Studds has had very limited interaction with the media fraternity until a couple of months ago.

Let me start with an elucidation – the new Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid is not a full hybrid bike with an electric motor that runs it partly on electricity, but a mild hybrid that provides the extra punch and marginally improves the fuel efficiency.
Hero Xoom 160: Xoom and boom, the SUV of scooters
From cafés to college to even office, this scooter is sure to turn heads wherever you ride it to. It can be your ticket to thrills (like a motorcycle), but does it have the utility of a scooter? I rode it for a full day in urban traffic, to a market, and then took it on a highway, racing cars and motorcycles.

2025 Mercedes Benz E 450 long term review, 3000km report
What perfect timing! A few days before my mother-in-law’s 75th birthday, the Mercedes-Benz E 450 entered our long-term fleet. Naturally, I grabbed the keys to chauffeur her to and from the party. Plus, with my sister-in-law coming down for the celebrations, I would have a nice car to do an airport run in.

Every V8 engined car on sale in India
The venerable V8 engine is perhaps the most loved configuration of them all – and for good reason. Whether it’s a flat-plane screamer that revs to 8,000rpm or a rumbling, low-revving torque monster, no other layout offers the variety that a V8 can. Every V8, however, has one thing in common: they are exciting, and sometimes even manage to upstage the very car they’re in.
Triumph Thruxton 400 fuel economy tested, explained
The Thruxton 400 is a café racer, and is much more than just a Speed 400 with a fairing. It features a slightly more powerful engine, producing 42hp and 37.5Nm, which makes it the most powerful of all the Bajaj-made Triumph 400s. The bike also revs 1,000rpm higher (Redlines at 10,200rpm) and has a smaller rear sprocket than the Speed 400. Here’s a look at the Thruxton 400 mileage numbers from when we tested the bike.

Buying a used Renault Kiger: What to look out for
Launched in February 2021, the Kiger was Renault’s entry into the congested compact SUV space. A sister product of the Nissan Magnite, the Kiger stands out for its performance (turbo), space, and decent features list – all in a compact and affordable package. This naturally makes it an enticing option in the used market. Here’s all that you should consider before buying a used Renault Kiger.
Opinion: The starkly different approaches of Ather and Ola
In December 2022, Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal tweeted that the Ola S1 would become India’s best selling scooter (petrol or electric) by August 2023. Not only did that never happen, but the company’s towering dominance in the electric two-wheeler space has been decimated over the last year or so.
Tata Harrier EV road test review
Having carved its place in India’s EV landscape, the Harrier EV is Tata’s boldest step yet. Based on the ICE Harrier’s proven formula, the electric model is built with an all-new architecture and brings all-wheel drive to the Harrier and Tata Motors. There’s imposing road presence, space, technology and a promise of strong performance, at a price that undercuts rivals. With so much going in its favour, we put it through our comprehensive road test to find out just how well it all comes together.
Every CNG car mileage as tested by Autocar India
CNG cars are a viable option today, with many carmakers like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Hyundai offering mass-market models with a factory-fit CNG kit. Cars that run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) have lower running costs compared to the equivalent petrol and diesel cars, and produce lower emissions as well. Here, we list every CNG car that has been through Autocar India’s exhaustive and accurate fuel efficiency tests.
